The End Is In Sight

A busy two weeks is ahead of you. Share what you did over spring vacation (this is always interesting for those coming after you to read) and what you learned. Also what are your goals for the time that is left--there's lots to pack in! Write and respond to each other.

I had a very fun yet busy spring break. My roommates and I wanted to pack in as many places as possible for our last big trip. We went to Dublin, Lisbon and Barcelona. They were all very beautiful and unique. Lisbon was probably my favorite. I loved the culture, art, colors and beach. It was so pretty and we had a great time. We stayed at hostels in each city and found cheap flights between each place so it was not crazy expensive. We rode a hop on hop off bus in Barcelona, which I highly recommend if you go there because the city is so immense and it is a great way to see all of the main places. I loved it all and it was so nice to have a week off. I learned that you can never be over prepared when traveling and it saves you a lot of time and money booking all of your trips and hostels way in advance. For my last week I really want to focus on enjoying my time with the kids and spending quality one on one time with each of them. I am going to miss all of them so much and I really want to focus on just enjoying my time with them. I can't believe my time is almost up! It went so quickly!

Spring break was great!!! I went to London and met my boyfriend there. It was really good to see him again and London is an amazing city. We did a lot of sightseeing and walking around. The highlight was seeing the Lion King. It was such a good show, with amazing costumes and singing :) It was something I have always wanted to see since it is my favorite disney movie so I was really happy I got to go see it!

It is crazy to think we only have two more weeks. Time has flown by and I have learned and experienced so much in these last months. My goals for the time that is left are to finish strong. I still have two more observations from the other two third grade teachers and one from the principle. I am going to make sure I am prepared for these observations and do a good job. I am slowing giving back my classroom as well so like Haley mentioned I am going to make sure to spend quality time with the kids as I will miss them so much. I have one more major parent/soldier human kindness activity that we are doing on tuesday, so a goal is for that to go smoothly and successfully. On my last day is the field trip I planned so I want to make sure that goes successfully also. I look forward to these last two weeks and I am going to make the most of them as this great experience comes to an end.

For Spring Break the boys and I headed to the Turkish Rivera. The hotel was all inclusive so it was so nice not having to spend extra money on every meal. The people there were really friendly and helpful! Our room turned in to a sick ward for a while with Paul being rather sick...never fear though, we made it to the pool or beach every day though!
It was interesting being in a Muslim country and learning about their customs. It is always exciting being in a new place and seeing what it has to offer.
To finish off our time here I hope to get everything finished off in my two weeks of teaching. They've been a busy two weeks. We have learned all about plants and sea life. Michael and I took our classes to the Sea Life aquarium, which was so much fun! Another goal I have to accomplish is sincerely thanking everyone that has helped us over here. So many people have done so much for the three of us that we can never repay them enough! Its definitely become home.

Sophia and Haley!!!! I am so glad you had wonderful spring breaks. I wish we had been able to see you again Haley! And Sophia...how sad we didnt get to see you! Good luck to you guys. Can't wait to see you in Pullman Haley and Sophia Miss you lots!

Our Spring Break was great. Kimmi hit the highlights so I won’t go into too much detail. We all burned and tanned and are even now still peeling. It was a neat experience and in my opinion tops anything anyone did back home : )
Kimmi also touched on the field trip our two classes took together - such a fun day with the kids. Seeing their excitement at things we, as adults, take for granted was great. Crabs, sea horses, turtles, you’d think the kids had just seen mythical creatures.
Everyday is flying by at this point. I can’t keep track of it anymore. I had to say goodbye to my first kiddo today - his dad is back for R&R so they took for until the 7th of May today. It was very sad but I assured him that we would keep in touch. I’m not looking for the longer goodbye next week.
It seems strange to be wrapping up, everyday I try to take in some of the little moments with the kids and really spend some one on one time with each of them. While they know I’m leaving soon it hasn’t quite hit them how soon. One of them asked me to come to his baseball game next weekend and I had to remind him that I wouldn’t be around at that time. No fun.
On a lighter note we have a birthday tomorrow and the kids earned a celebration so it isn’t over yet! Sophia and Haley - I’m so jealous of your spring break experiences. I wish I could have made it that far west during my stay here - I’ll be eager to see pictures and all soon!
Goodbye my lovers, goodbye my friends -

Michael

Once again.... bringing up the rear.
Spring Break. Where to start? As the other two stated, hit up the Republic of Turkey for the week. Almost stayed in the country a little longer than expected as there was a mix up with our transportation to the airport, but all is well that ends well. I somehow came down with the Black Death while I was over there and spent most of the week laying around wheezing and coughing. The shot immune system didn't stop me from showing the locals my famous backstroke however. Crossing off swimming in the Mediterranean from my Bucket List never felt so good. Turns out long hair isn't as socially acceptable around Turkey as I was told that I looked like Osama Bin Laden by the dining area manager of our hotel at dinner one night. Not so good. It was a great trip though. I almost topped it off by coming back from Turkey with an 'Antalya Spring Break 2012' tattoo across my back, but all the shops were closed when I went to get it done.

For the rest of my time here I'm looking forward to wrapping up my time in 1st/2nd grade, completing more observations, and finishing all the thank you's I need to write. There are so many things to do, it will be a busy upcoming week. There is also the impending goodbye as two members of the fantastic trio takes off back to Pullman. It'll be strange eating all the Pizza Hut pizza I can while hiking the hills Europe without my trustee WSU companions by my side.

Haley and Sophia-- your spring breaks each sound quite wonderful. I wish I had an Ozzy manchild to travel around this great continent with. I also may just have to had Lisbon to my list of destinations for my big Eurorail summer just around the corner.

This is all for now. Looking forward to reading all your final posts. So long, farewell.
