Week in Review 1/25 - 1/29

Hello Beth and Julie!

It's been a bright and sunny day here in Pullman...in contrast to the dense fog we had earlier in the week! How is the weather in Heidelberg?

For your prompt this week, a quick review please of how things are going, any particular highs or lows you would like to share? An "ah-ha" moment with a student, or a funny 2nd grader??? With all the twins and triplets (!?!?!?!?!?!?!) in your classroom Julie, there must be some interesting interactions!

Let's also talk a little bit about "transitioning". Beth, we know you are waiting for finals to be over so you can start in with a vengence - how have you been working towards being the authority figure in your classroom? Julie, how much of the day are you taking on at this point? What is the plan for continued transition to solo teaching for you?

All the best wishes from Pullman!!!!

Week in Review 1/18-1/22

Hi Beth and Julie,

Here is your prompt for this week. Please give us a snap shot of your past week, if you went anywhere exciting over the holiday weekend, and how this week has gone in your classrooms.

By now you should have completed the classroom and student characteristics for the classrooms that you are in, and be making notes about how to accomodate all of your learners. Please give us a run-down of your learners, which will obviously take you a bit longer Beth, but we know you are up to the challenge!

Both of your teachers say you are doing well and they are enjoying your presence in their rooms.

We look forward to your posts by Tuesday next week! :-)

Welcome to Student Teaching!!!!

Hi Julie and Beth!

Welcome to student teaching and we hope, the time of your life!!!!

This is the blog we've told you about, and we will expect you to check in here weekly, let us know how things are going, and watch for specific prompts from us.

Plan on journaling a "week in review" for us each week. I'll get a prompt up here towards the end of the week, and we expect a response from you by Tuesday of the following week.

We know that you arrived safely, and hope that you have had a chance to get settled into the base and into your classrooms. We have conversed with your teachers about Co-teaching a bit, and hope that there are some strategies there that prove useful as you get further into your experiences.

So for this week, in your week in review, please tell us how the transition is going: jet lag, adjustment to the time change, life on base, how your school and classrooms are set up, and your initial thoughts about your mentors and learners. We hope the first 2 weeks have been great for all of you!

Enjoy your long weekend, and we will look for updates from you early next week!

Chris and Heidi
